With Apple releasing the new iPhone 4, a lot of developers started to release new versions of their apps with full support for the new features of iOS 4 (which is also available for the older iPhones 3G and 3Gs and also the iPad).
And there are a lot of features that the new iPhone brings to the table, from a 720p video camera with the quality of a Flip Mino (pretty high that is) to a new 960×640 pixels resolution on a 3.5 inch screen, which is simply beautiful and the best display on the mobile market to a new hardware base that includes a 1GHz processor (the same one that’s used in the iPad!), 512 Mb of RAM and a new and improved video processor, which is twice as fast as the one in the 3GS and supports newer OpenGL and pixel shader standards, which makes the graphics look amazing and close or even equal in quality to a PSP or PS2.

That says a lot about it, and it’s the reason a lot of game developers started releasing games specifically designed for this phone. These games are among the best you’ve seen, thanks to the sheer processing power of the iPhone and the beautiful, sharp screen.
Here are some of the best:
Call of Duty World at War: Zombies
I really don’t know how the developers got the license to use the Call of Duty name for their game, but I can say that this is the best game ever on a mobile device. You can forget any other FPS, because this game not only lets you play as a World War 2 soldier on the allied side, but it also features zombies as the main villain! How awesome is that? The graphics, sound and controls are also the best available on any mobile game. Call of Duty World at War Zombies and the iPhone 4 were simply made for each other.
Tap Tap Revenge 3
This Guitar Hero-like game is now even better than before. The new version for the iOS 4 has, of course, improved graphics, more refined controls and support for multitasking, so you can always continue your tap battle after you take a call or send an email.
Real Racing
This was one of the best looking racing video games for the iPhone 3GS, but the old 480×320 screen was seriously limiting its beauty (as demonstrated by the iPad’s perfect rendering of the same game). It was the first racing game to get amazing graphics and support specifically for the iPhone 4, and it looks simply amazing!
There are no words to describe the sharpness and quality of the picture. If you ever played a racing game on a PSP, well, it’s pretty much the same (the iPhone 4 features a new and improved video processor), except in even higher resolution.
Angry Birds
This is one of the most popular paid applications in the iTunes store, and it truly deserves the fame. It features a lot of hours of gameplay, very nice graphics, good replay value and a great physics engine.
The gameplay is very fun, but you need quite a bit of skills and logic in order to destroy that dreaded enemy castle using your faithful kamikaze birds
. If you like puzzles really make your brain work then this could very well be the best game you can get for $1.
Flight Control
This simple, yet very addictive game that has become extremely popular among iPhone users has finally got its iPhone 4 update. Now it looks much sharper, fits more stuff in the game screen and has support for fast switching. Controlling a flight tower and preventing planes and helicopters from crashing into each other has never been easier
.
Chaos Rings
This marvelous Japanese style RPG from Square Enix is a great addition to any iPhone 4 owner’s list of games. It has a very rich gameplay that rivals that of the older PS2 console RPGs, and the story and characters are simply amazing.
The turn based battle system makes it easy to control your characters and deliver blows that count to the enemy. The only drawback of this game is that it’s pretty expensive, but since there are no other similar products that can accurately deliver the flair of Final Fantasy VII on a mobile device, the price is well worth it.
The new iPhone 4 will definitely revolutionize mobile gaming. With the new beautiful 960×640 display, a 1 GHz processor, 512 MB of RAM and a new, faster video processor that renders games at the same quality as a PSP-3000, who needs portable consoles? If you can have your phone, computer, music and video player and gaming console in one small and extremely slim package, there really is no reason to buy anything else.
