Meet Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1

Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 Limited edition was a glimpse into the future, and now we can finally see if the end product is going to deliver everything we hoped for and more. The critics will argue that the differences between the limited edition tablet and this one are negligible, but with only a month following its release, we couldn’t have expected a revolution. Furthermore, the media and users alike were thrilled with what the first tablet was capable of and every addition to it should be regarded as a cool bonus.

Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1The competition shouldn’t be with itself but rather with the iPad 2, arguably the best tablet in existence and which promises to become even better in a not so distant future. The iOS 5 is just around the corner, and the previews are spectacular, so the competition will only get tougher. For the moment, the Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 is a member of a the select club of tablets using Android 3.1 which is faster than the 3.0 version and consumes less battery. The tests are no conclusive in terms of sheer speed and although the differences are negligible, the upgrade to 3.1 is definitely a big step forward.

In terms of design, the Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 is just as appealing as the Limited Edition, slightly thinner than the iPad 2 and very comfortable to hold. On the flip side, the camera is just as disappointing as before and the image quality for both photos and movies leaves a lot to be desired. The consolation, is that the iPad 2 has the same problem and tablets in general are not the ideal items if you plan on taking photos. The $499 starting price keeps it competitive and the fact that it is already available at Best Buy and nationwide in a week, gives it a fighting chance in the tough competition with the iPad 2.

The DreamBook Tablet That Can Talk Like A Smartphone

For those who want it all, there are sometimes a few rays of light. The Pioneer Computing company in Australia is throwing their hat in the ring for the tablet PC. Get a closer look at the DreamBook ePad F10 here in this informative article.

DreamBook ePad F10

Is this another new tablet? You bet! They are coming out of the woodwork these days from many companies. Many if not most of them are coming from Asia. The DreamBook ePad F10 is a smooth looking, powerful, and works with Windows software, but some models will also run Android. This one is not from Asia, but not far away. It comes from the land “down under”, Australia. The size of the tablet is 242.8 millimeters by 175 millimeters by 15 millimeters. It is a somewhat of a lightweight at 700 grams. For those readers from the United States, that is 9.55 inches by 6.89 inches by .59 inch thick. The weight is 22.5 ounces.

Starting with the display, we find it is close to the same specs as the Apple iPad. The small difference is that an iPad has a 9.7 inch size while the DreamBook ePad F10 has a 10.1 inch size. The same LCD material and the same resolution, 1024 by 600, is used as the iPad. A difference is that the screen for the iPad has IPS, which the F10 does not. IPS ( In Plane Switching ) is the ability to view the screen clearly from extended angles. The screen supports multi touch input and is capacitive, not resistive, touch so no stylus is needed for navigation. An LED backlight is included for more visibility.

The DreamBook ePad F10 runs a typical processing speed of 1.5 gigahertz. This is the Intel Atom Z670 “Oak Trail” chip at work. Samsung is going to be using this chip also in the near future. The graphics chip is an Intel GMA 600. Two gigabytes of RAM are accompanying all that hardware. The storage choices go from 16 gigabytes up to 128 gigabytes and are in the form of an SSD ( Solid State Drive ) not a disc drive. A SSD is more durable in a tablet since it is going to be enduring many more bumps than a stationary computer.

External hookups to the DreamBook ePad F10 is the common everyday kind. There is a regular USB port, SDHC card slot, DC power input, microphone input, 3.5 millimeter head phone jack and an HDMI video port. A small 1.3 megapixel web cam is on the front of the tablet for web chats. Wireless hookups are a little more interesting. The 3G capability is joined by a SIM card slot. This means the F10 can make calls, but will need an optional bluetooth module to do so. Wi-Fi is provided in all the modes, including the “N” mode. There is no DLNA feature for broadcasting.

Windows 7 is the main operating software for the DreamBook ePad F10. This is a good update from Vista and includes tweaks that are specially made for tablets. One is the new taskbar. It is ten pixels taller to accommodate finger input a little better. The thumbnail preview has more information than in the Vista software of times past. The new Aero Shake feature allows the screen to be cleared by “shaking” a Window, causing all the others to minimize. Internet Explorer is the web browser for Windows and uses Adobe flash files, creating a richer web browsing experience.

The battery for the Pioneer DreamBook ePad F10 is powerful enough to last for eight hours. Look for this tablet to be on sale for around $500 dollars without an operating system. This tablet is available now.

The Savvy Beautiful IPad 2 Will Be Here In Just A Few Days

Today was the first unveiling of the second generation iPad. It looks thin and of course it is more powerful. Read on to find out what Apple did with their latest tablet creation.

ipad 2

This is a scaled down and pumped up iPad this year. The new cameras make it a shoo-in for those who want to do some photography. The new processor is buzzing with two, not just one core, and the cover that comes with it is like nothing you have ever seen before. It even weighs less. The best part may be that the price has not changed.

Apple kept their word and did not downsize the iPad 2. The screen is the same size as last year’s. It is not improved in resolution, but the old 1024 by 600 resolutions seemed to be fine for the first model. That is not the end of the story though, for the screen. The graphics are going to be nine times better than the first iPad. How is that? The new display comes with a gyroscope and nine times faster graphics processing. It should be better for gaming, which is what current owners are doing a lot of these days. The screen on the iPad 2 also comes with IPS, a feature that allows it be viewed clearly from increased angles. This is a feature lacking in most tablets of this size.

The interior is burning hot for the iPad 2. There is a brand new dual core A5 processors. This speeds up things to turbo levels. It allows the tablet to have good speed while saving on battery energy. More good news is that the battery lasts the same long ten hours, just like the first iPad. Not many tablets last that long between recharges.

This is a notable accomplishment, since the thickness and weight of the new iPad 2 are less than its predecessor. This iPad is even thinner than the iPhone 4. This iPad tablet is 8.8 millimeters thin. That is .35 inch for those in the United States. This number makes it 33 percent thinner than the first iPad. The iPhone 4 is 9.4 millimeters or .37 inch. Even the Blackberry Playbook is fatter than the new iPad. The old iPad weighed 1.6 pounds. The new one weighs 1.3.

One of the new features of the new iPad 2 is an HDMI port. The user will be able to watch the same thing on a television screen or monitor as they are watching on their iPad 2. This will be great for those who want to use the iPad in the classroom. There is no word yet on if the iPad 2 has DLNA ( Digital Living Network Alliance ). This is the ability to send a multimedia signal to a nearby monitor or television. An HDMI cable would not be needed with DLNA. Another feature is that it is rugged, made from one piece of metal. A “Garage Band” feature is optional ( for $5 dollars ) that makes the iPad into a musical instrument. FaceTime is used now, since the iPad has cameras, just like the iPhone 4.

It looks like Apple beat their competitors to the market with this tablet. They plan on staying ahead of the pack.

The Asus Eee Pad Transformer Is The Netbook You Wish You Had Seen Before

Now that netbooks are going the way of the dinosaurs, the people at Asus have had a bright idea. You can still have them and a tablet too. Get a closer look at the Asus Eee Pad Transformer here in this informative article.

ASUS-EeePad-Transformer

The new tablet from Asus is advertised as being “twice the performance while being thinner than the iPad”. Since that is true for now, it may not be true by the time this tablet gets to market. The iPad 2 tablet is destined to be out about the same time as this one. Nevertheless, this one has nearly an inch more screen real estate than an iPad. It measures in at 10.1 inches to the iPad’s 9.7.

Continuing with the screen, it is crafted with 1280 by 800 pixels of clarity. It is capacitive touch and will come with the custom Asus user interface. It is an IPS screen, which means it can be seen with clarity from angles. In addition, the screen will have a light sensor, gyroscope and E-Compass. The gyroscope can be used for gaming.

The Asus Eee Pad Transformer comes with a keyboard. It is not optional. It comes with its own battery and is high quality. It is also used as a base or “dock” for the tablet. It connects and disconnects just like a battery charger would do for a cell phone. Asus also puts out another tablet with a permanently attached keyboard they call the “Slider”. This one, the Transformer, is likely more sturdy and will be able to handle abuse better with a detachable keyboard. The Transformer looks like a regular netbook when it is sitting on top of its keyboard.

Another hardware for the Asus Eee Pad Transformer is an amicable processor and cameras. The processor is created by Nvidia and named “Tegra 2″ for its dual core format. This chip is in many a smartphone and tablet already. It is running at one gigahertz times two. When this chip is in a smartphone, the smartphone becomes a “super smartphone”, so think of the Transformer as a “super tablet”. The Transformer was given two cameras, one on the front and one for the back. The rear picture snapper is a five megapixel model and features auto focus. The front camera is for video chats and is rated at 1.2 megapixels.

Connections with other devices include USB, HDMI and a card reader. The high definition output is at 1080p, not the lower 720p. Wi-Fi is featured in all the modes, including fast “N” mode. Bluetooth 2.1 is included and 3G is being talked about. If the Asus Eee Pad Transformer gets the 3G feature, look for it to be making phone calls using the bluetooth service.

Battery life for the tablet is impressive while used with the lower docking keyboard. The keyboard battery supplements the tablet battery to give sixteen hours of use between charges. Compare that to ten for the Apple iPad. The Transformer is going to run the free Android software in the Honeycomb version. It was using this software in the 2.X version at CES. This is going to be sold in April or May, and the price could be up to $700 dollars.
