Are you one of them trying to figure it out whether Dell Streak is a Smartphone or a Tablet? Well, if yes, then we are here with a solution to this problem. This review will take you through all the stories as well as features related to Steak.

This is an Android run gadget which is not from the Apple’s house. There is approx. 30 touch operated tablets that are going to be launched in the next six months and all of them will contain Android OS. Dell Streak can also run as a smartphone with lots more features in hand. But how exactly can it run like an iPad is the matter of questions.

The device has a capacitive touch screen which sizes 5” with 800*480 resolution pixels while an iPhone is only 3.5”. It is also larger than many Android phones like HTC Evo and Motorola Droid X, but using it as an iPad is not that fruitful. IPad has a screen size of 9.7”. You may find difficulties while performing activities like: web browsing, email, Twitter, HD video playback, Digital e-books and casual games. You also need a large virtual keyboard for easy and comfortable experience. The screen resolution offered by it is comparatively less than many other competitive phones like iPhone (960*640).

It has an excellent speaker and earpieces for good voice calls. If one wants to use it as smartphone then it may do some good to them. Using it as iPad will be a tougher job to commit. The hardware used in it is 1Ghz Qualcomm Snapdragon, which can support 512MB of RAM. While the processor used in iPad is Apple A4 which more powerful than this. Using WiFi will be a bit slower in Streak with this type of processor. The Streak also comes with 16GB microSD card support and 32GB card is also supported. Compare to iPad this device has a dual camera, front and rear.

The rear camera being used is 5 mega pixels, which are excellent for taking still photos and regular videos while the front camera is of low resolution and can be used for video chatting. The device doesn’t come loaded with the video chat application, but according to rumors you may get it at the end of this year. It also includes a 3-Axis accelerometer but doesn’t make good use of it. You will also find a 3.5mm head jack and a support of 30-pin USB connector.

The software running in it is 1.6 Android OS. Though there is an older version code named Donut, but Dell promised to update it after which you may enjoy features like Google Maps, Microsoft Exchange, HTML 5 features and also Adobe Flash 10.1 support. You may be disappointed by hearing this that there is no support of flash. At least not now! As mentioned, a good accelerometer is used, but it is not put into action for good screen orientation movement. There is no features available like top, bottom, left and right orientation support similar to an iPad.
