Most of the smartphones’ components are made in China these days, no matter what brand we’re talking about, so why wouldn’t the Chinese come up with a top-notch device of their own. Meet Xiaomi Phone, a gadget that aims to compete with the likes of Samsung Galaxy S 2 and iPhone 5, at least inside the Great Wall. What the Xiaomi Phone has to overcome, is the misconception about products made entirely in China, and if we take a look at the technical sheet, we have a good reason to give them credit to succeed.
Xiaomi Phone is powered by a blazing fast dual-core Qualcomm CPU and 1GB of RAM, and the test proved that it is almost as fast as Samsung’s flagship Galaxy S 2. In terms of the operating system, it relies on Android with a special flavor of MIUI, Xiaomi Phone’s highly customizable Android ROM. Unlike HTC devices which were criticized for the way the Sense interfered with the user experience, MIUI is much more flexible and gives you a lot of freedom. Something that is meant to give Xiaomi Phone the upper hand in the battle with some of the best smartphones in the world, is the massive 1930mAh battery.
The 4-inch display features a resolution of 850 x 480, and the transreflective LCD is better than most of the displays in broad sunlight. Xiaomi Phone has an 8 megapixel camera capable of capturing excellent images, clear and bright, as long as you have enough natural light around you, while at night, the results are mediocre. For a smartphone that will cost $310, Xiaomi Phone is a superb deal and if the producers would have sold it outside China, it would be worth buying. For the time being, the destined audience is the Chinese, but all the orders are made online, so there is still a chance to get one.
