Apple has the buzz going for them, but Samsung has momentum going for them. Tablet PCs are going to be announced in abundance this year and next. The IFA trade show is the place Samsung plans on showing their Galaxy Tab first. Samsung plans to wow the crowd with their own tablet revelation at this Berlin show.
The Samsung Galaxy Tab may be getting a formal viewing in Germany, but the details about this tablet PC have been brewing for a while already. Videos showing the Galaxy Tab with its mojo on are already circulating on the web. The Tab will be running the Froyo version of Android. This is great news, since the Froyo 2.2 version is tested to be 450 percent faster than 2.1. The profile on the Tab is extremely thin. The actual numbers are not yet available, but it looks quite anorexic.
For the geeky details on the Samsung Galaxy Tab, it has a screen ratio of 16:10. It has Wi-Fi connections in the fast “N” mode. Not only is there a camera, it faces the front. You know what that means ! You will be able to do a video conference, especially on Wi-Fi and the Fring video service. There appears to be memory expansion slots. This will allow you to put your games and videos and even apps on a MicroSD card. Imagine swapping apps with your friends using MicroSD cards.
The size of the screen on the Samsung Galaxy Tab is seven inches. Yes, the iPad has a spread of almost ten inches. You may not care after seeing the way the Galaxy Tab performs. The Android system has over 120,000 applications that you can load onto this tablet PC. Most of them are going to be cheaper than an iPad application. If you remember, Google just made Gmail a way to talk to other people. You can talk to people for free in the United States and Canada. It is another way to talk if you happen to not like Skype or Fring.
The Samsung Galaxy Tab has an connection for high defintion video output. This is accompanied by an audio output. Could this be used with your high definition television ? You bet. Not only that, Samsung is making leather cases that can be used for stands and manual keyboards that can be hooked up to the Tab. This piece of mobile juggernaut seems destined for the big time.
If you already knew about the success of the Galaxy S series of smartphones from Samsung, good for you. This tablet computer is named after the same series.
