This is an amazing smartphone, but you may be tempted to go ahead and buy another model once you find out when this is going to be released. This smartphone is going to have the same connections as the Motorola Atrix on the side. This means the special software called “webtop” is going to be installed in the Motorola Targa. That means this smartphone will be able to hook up to the special docking ( base ) station and operate at least an eleven inch screen and netbook sized keyboard. The docking station is really a netbook setup with a connector for a smartphone more than it is a docking station. The screen size for the netbook is 11.6 inches.

The screen size for the Motorola Targa is probably going to be large, close to tablet size. That means 4.3 inches. The resolution is going to be nearly as much as an Apple iPhone. Motorola calls this a QHD resolution. The numbers are 540 by 960 pixels. Compare that to the iPhone 4′s 640 by 960 pixels. You will hardly be able to tell the difference. Expect all the other features like a proximity sensor, ambient light sensor, multi touch input to be standard. There will not be a manual keyboard for the Targa. There are some capacitive touch buttons on the front, but it is assumed that those are for the free Android mobile operating system.

The Motorola Targa is going to be graced with one of the most powerful cameras ever put into a telephone. The back camera is said to be a thirteen megapixel powerhouse. That will beat what was the champ of 2010, the Nokia N8. It has 12 megapixels of camera resolution. The Targa will also come with a front camera for video chatting. The camera on the back of this smartphone is big enough to make a noticeable bulge in the back.

Screaming inside the Motorola Targa is a Tegra model, most likely a dual core model. The Matrix runs a dual core Tegra and that seems to be the popular model for this time in mobile history. The Targa may run a Tegra 3 rather than a Tegra 2. If that is true, expect flying speeds of 1.5 gigahertz. That processor has a quad core. If RAM is also the same as in the Atrix, that will be a phenomenal one gigabyte of memory. This smartphone could beat your netbook or some people’s laptop for sheer computing power, and still fit in your pocket.

High definition video will be standard for the Motorola Targa. Assume it to be at the upper 1080p level. An HDMI connector is included on the smartphone to hook it up to a monitor or television. Wireless connections will be tight for the Targa. Wi-Fi in all the modes will be included. If Motorola gets smart, they will also include bluetooth in the 3.0 version and finally get past the moldy, moth-eaten 2.1 version.

The Motorola Targa may come to market by the end of 2011. Expect it to be offered for an unspecified price by the time the Holidays come rolling around.
