Motion Computing has created a true mobile tablet. It is tough and yet looks good. Get a closer look at the Motion Computing CL 900 here in this informative article.

Motion Computing manufactured a tablet to keep in their model CL 900. This one comes with all the external connections plugged with rubber stops. This keeps out the dust and some water. They also created the screen to be tougher than the average tablet. It is covered in the now popular Gorilla Glass. This is two to three times stronger than regular glass. It is made by Corning Glass.

It is purported that the IP52 rating for this tablet allows it to be dropped from four feet and not damage it. Stay tuned after finding someone brave enough to do this test. The size of the CL 900 tablet is similar to an iPad. The external measurements are 10.9 inches, by 7.1 inches, by .6 inch thick. That is, it is 27.7 centimeters by 18 centimeters by 1.52 centimeters thick. The weight for the tablet is 2.1 pounds, which is a little heavy, but not bad. It is created in what seems to be the official color of tablets; black.

Aside from being built like a tank, this tablet has a powerful chip running it. It has a 1.5 gigahertz Intel atom Z670 processor. That is enough to give it good peppiness and prevent lag while cruising through programs and menus. The RAM is normally at one gigabyte, but it is possible to get that boosted up to two gigabytes with an extra card. The hard drive is a true “hard” drive. It is not a disc drive. It is a solid state, and has no moving parts. It can be had in a 30, 62 or 128 gigabyte size. If the user finds that is not enough storage space, the Motion Computing CL 900 tablet includes a slot for a MicroSD card. Other wired connections include a micro HDMI for video, a head phone jack, microphone jack and USB port.

The wireless connections include Wi-Fi in all the modes up to the “N” standard. It does not have 4G capability ( WiMaX or LTE ) but it is possible to get an optional 3G module and connect the Motion Computing CL 900 tablet to a cellular system. There is a slot on the side of the tablet for a SIM card.

The screen of the Motion Computing CL 900 tablet is ten inches in size. It sports a resolution of 768 by 1366 pixels, which beats the current iPad by 342 pixels. It is not a fair comparison, because the iPad screen is 9.7 inches while the Motion Computing tablet is a little bigger. The screen is a dual mode, and can use a stylus or fingers for operation. A stylus is included in a small pocket on the side for taking notes. Widgets are included from Motion Computing to help get around in the Windows operating system.

Speaking of the Windows Professional platform, the Motion Computing CL 900 tablet is equipped with this improved version of the Microsoft software. Windows 7 has an improved taskbar that is fatter ( ten pixels taller ) for use with tablets just like this one. The taskbar is able to have programs and web pages “pinned” to it. This allows the user to use the taskbar as a source of shortcuts to other things. It also includes a Desktop slideshow.

This makes the graphics of the desktop appear and change according to the whims of the user. Thumbnail previews are now interactive. They were static under Vista. A new Aero Peek button is now included for the task bar. Internet Explorer is the browser in this tablet. Wait for version 9 which will be much more compliant and able to use web apps ( similar to iPhone apps ) in the browser.

The battery for the Motion Computing CL 900 tablet is going to give eight hours of use before needing a recharge. Compare that to the ten hours with the iPad. The price of the tablet will be $999 dollars. It should be available soon.
